Checked your filters lately?

I know it sounds like I'm talking about your car, but have you? Pictured is a set of filters above a standard stove, mounted on the bottom of a microwave. The filters could also be on the bottom of a range hood if you don't have a microwave The filters are designed to filter the air as the blower draws it up from the cooking area. The filters catch the grease and allow the air to pass through. Some blowers draw the air up and out of the house while most of them are designed to circulate the air in the kitchen. When was the last time you cleaned or replaced the filters? The filters are fairly easy to clean, and/or replace but as with everything else go overlooked for some time. Cleaning the filters is easy, you can place them in the dishwasher with your dishes and your done. If you want the more hands on approach, you can boil a pot of water on the stove and slowly stir in 1/2 cup of baking soda(slowly).

Boil the filters for 5 minutes or so and then rinse with hot water and allow to air dry. Replacement is also an option if you have cleaned the filters numerous times already or choose not to clean them. Whatever your choice dont let these filters go un-maintained. The result could be grease from the filter dropping on your delicious meal, or even worse, on the hot stove causing a grease fire!
